Environmental Manager - Construction / Building   – Northern Region + Remote Work.

Ideal opportunity for someone already with previous main contractor employment (not essential) Ecologists or Environmental Consultants also considered with a view of transferring experience over to main contractor side - good opportunity for career progression.

 

Location:

Can be based from any of the companies regional offices.

As Environmental Manager the role will be a mix of office, remote working and visiting sites and offices in the following regions – North West, Yorkshire, North East and some parts of Scotland.

Role:

As an Environmental Manager, you'll support the delivery of works. You will advise teams on the legal, client and company requirements and procedures ensuring all the required environmental compliance obligations, objectives and targets are met.

Duties:

As Environmental Manager your duties will include:

  • Providing strategic direction, management, and leadership on Environmental and Ecology matters, including licensing and consent, operational delivery, and audit.
  • Leading the production and use of Environmental Management Plans and Risk Assessments.
  • Overseeing the performance of the projects through management meetings, audits, site visits, and specific interventions as required.
  • Championing environmental best practices, ensuring compliance with legislation, and fostering innovation.
  • Acting as the focal point for all Environmental and Ecology aspects of the projects, building collaborative relations with external bodies.
  • Providing bid support and contributing to the overall sustainability targets.
  • Liaison with peers, clients, industry bodies and proposing innovation and best practice.

 

 

 

Requirements:

To be considered for this Environmental Manager role you must meet the following criteria:

-Previous environmental management role preferably in Construction or Civil Engineering

-Previous experience of delivering training

-Up to date knowledge of UK environmental Legislation

-Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems

-Full UK Driving Licence with flexibility to visit sites in Yorkshire, North West and North East.

-Previous employment with a main contractor, sub contractor, local authority or consultancy.

-Previous employment in an Environmental Advisor, Environmental Coordinator, Environmental Manager or similar role. Alternatively also open to consider Ecologists or Environmental Consultants (Or similar roles) transferring experience over.

-Be educated to degree level in a relevant subject (or equivalent), you will be a professional level member of IEMA or equivalent.

-Proven experience in Environmental/Ecology management within a similar construction environment.

-Have experience of in working in environmental management environment, which will include assessing / identifying the environmental aspects and impacts associated with proposed works and being able to identify potential risks / issues on site and advise on appropriate control / mitigation measures.

-Good knowledge and practical experience of maintaining, implementing and improving EMS's certified to BS EN ISO 14001

-Solid knowledge of legislation, statutory bodies, and licensing processes.
