Wanted – Senior General Foreman – Highways / Infrastructure / Marine – Great Yarmouth – Multi Million Pound Project

 

Opportunity for a Senior General Foreman to join one of the UK's most successful Tier 1 building & civil engineering main contractors, with a very stable and fast growing forward order book, working on an initial multi million pound project in Great Yarmouth.

 

Project:

Located in Great Yarmouth (Lodge provided for candidates not local) , be part of a project to construct a quayside facility for use by the offshore energy industry. It includes design and construct of a floating berth (pontoons, restraint piles, fixed bridges and articulating linkspans).   

Involving significant civils works including sheet piling, tubular piling, river works, land-based works, earthworks and associated supporting infrastructure bringing together technical, logistical and ecological challenges. 

Ideally seeking candidates with previous highways / infrastructure / heavy civils or marine projects.

 

Role:

 

As a Senior General Foreman you will assist the site team in the management of projects from contract award through to completion; reporting to Project Manager depending on the complexity of the project.

To assist in the successful and timely completion of projects for the company by applying the health, safety, quality environmental, sustainability and Lean procedures of the business, whilst maintaining and improving client relationships and working with the team to achieve financial success of the project.

 

Duties:

 

As Senior General Foreman your duties will include:

 

  • Manage, maintain and enforce health, safety, quality, sustainability and wellbeing standards as required by company policies
  • Implement strict controls on subcontractors, suppliers and operatives.
  • Oversee the day-to-day construction processes and ensure co-ordination within the site team, client and contractors
  • Manage your direct reports and the workforce in conjunction with the wider project team and help create a “one team” approach on projects
  • Plan and co-ordinate the operational delivery of the project as required
  • To build long term relationships with clients, the supply chain and other key stakeholders within a scheme to help with project success and repeat work
  • Appraise the risk to the scheme in conjunction with the Project Manager 
  • Ensure systems are in place and used in order that quality of work is to the prescribed standards
  • Promote the use of ICARE behavioural safety within your scheme
  • Ensure the site fulfils all obligations for external compliance audits
  • Ensure Permit to Work systems, Inductions and Briefings are correctly carried out
  • Ensure basic company requirements for supervision, competency, first aid cover etc are fulfilled
  • Maintain the culture whereby everyone is continually seeking to satisfy customer requirements
  • Identify \ Assist to introduce new processes, techniques and innovations on site
  • Attend meetings with and maintain necessary regular contact with clients and stakeholders
  • Rigorously apply and enforce methods and controls to ensure the most effective and continuous use of Company resources
  • Ensure full participation in staff development review, training and mentoring
  • In conjunction with the site management team, manage the project procurement process for suppliers and contractors in line with the company processes and commercial best practice.
  • Actively promote actions to achieve our Sustainability goals and the Clients KPIs on a day to day basis.
  • Develop team culture to create an environment where motivation and morale is high and earn respect of team members to gain their commitment and support that ensures their optimum input in the project;
  • Ensure customer care for all the stakeholders involved in a project – promotion of positive image of the Interserve name to protect and promote the brand name;

 

Requirements:

 

To be considered for this Senior General Foreman role you must meet the following criteria:

 

-Previous work in a General Foreman role, Works Managers, Site Agent or similar role.
CITB Level 3 Safety Course SMSTS (5 day) 

-Appropriate CSCS card  

-Able to work as part of a multi disciplined team;

-Relevant Technical knowledge and ability to visualize and interpret drawings.

-Good practical knowledge of site construction techniques and requirements;

-Ability to motivate others;

-Attention to detail;

-Sets high standards in safety and quality;

-A background of working within Highways or Civil Engineering supervisory positions sufficient to give an in depth understanding of work stream processes which the individual is responsible for supervising;

-Good interpersonal and communication skills;
