Environmental Advisor - Construction - Midlands Projects (West Mids & East Mids)
Mix of remote and visiting sites.
Reputable Tier 1 Building Main Contractor.
(Candidates looking to transfer experience from other roles such as Ecologist, Environmental Consultant or similar also considered).
Projects include mix of buildings and civils projects.
Job Role:
The role is to provide environmental assistance and advice to pre-construction and construction operations. Seeking someone who is self motivated, good at communicating through various media and who is able to fit into multiple site teams with ease.
Responsibilities:
Training:
- Ensure training courses are kept up to date and aligned with industry standards / Deliver environmental training / Provide mentoring to new staff where appropriate / Provide and deliver Toolbox talks
Communication:
- Liaise with Environmental Advisors and Health and Safety Advisors
- Attend Business System Review/team/client Meetings as required
- Compose reports for Senior Leadership Meetings
- Draft and distribute alerts, posters and newsletters
- Attend Client Environmental Forums
- Attend Industry organisations, e.g. CECA, BUILD UK
Project Assistance:
- Regular site inspection for each site
- Technical support relating to implementation of management systems on site, sustainability performance and legal compliance.
- Liaison with environmental regulators on behalf of site teams.
- Support in complying with other environmental related requirements (e.g. planning conditions, client requirements, BREEAM / CEEQUAL).
Winning Work: Assist with Tenders and Prequalification as requested
- External Audits:
- Assist in preparation and presentation for external audit
Processes:
- Ensure environmental processes are up to date, relevant and fit for purpose
- Communicate any changes to management system
- Highlight and communicate Best Practice
Requirements:
To be considered for this Environmental Advisor role you must meet the following criteria:
- Previous environmental management role preferably in Construction
- Previous experience of delivering training
- Up to date knowledge of UK environmental Legislation
- Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems
- Degree in environmental management or equivalent - highly desirable
- strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Computer literate
- Full UK Driving Licence with flexibility to cover a large geographic region and attend sites regularly
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to form good working relationships with multi-disciplined teams
- Able to work autonomously and manage own commitments/diary/scheduling.
- Previous employment with a main contractor, sub contractor or Consultancy.
- Previous employment in an Environmental Advisor, Environmental Coordinator, Environmental Manager or similar role.
- Candidates looking to transfer expeirence from other roles such as Ecologist, EIA, Environmental Consultant or similar also considered.
Remuneration:
The successful Environmental Advisor will receive:
-£35,000 - £50,000 (Dependent on experience)
