COMPANY:
My client is a reputable top tier Civil Engineering contractor, with a busy and fast growing workload.
They are going through a stable and yet exciting period of growth creating plenty of opportunities for staff to progress within this business.
The Project:
This employer has been awarded multiple schemes along the A47 running from Peterborough to Norfolk with a combined value in excess of £250m. The framework will see them firmly invest in the region over the next six years and beyond, so are looking for a Design Manager to support in the ECI phase on several of these schemes moving from detailed design into construction. The projects range from construction of new dual carriageways, roundabouts, junction improvements and interchanges with a series of structures all delivered in collaboration with Highways England.
ROLE
As Design Manager, you ensure the overall management and control of consultants to ensure the provision of design solutions to meet project requirements in terms of specification and budget.
- Ensuring designs are produced in a timely manner, to meet schedule requirements and are effectively managed
- Ensure detailed designs are fully compliant with employers requirements, contractors proposals, industry specifications and standards
- Manage and review the design development process ensuring value engineering and buildability are fully considered and innovation opportunities are realized to provide competitive advantage
- Ensure all aspects of design information control is in accordance with all relevant company BMS procedures and that a full archive of design information is retained
- Providing general technical advice to site teams, ensure timely completion and issue of technical assessments
- Establishing and maintaining commercial control of appointed design consultants to ensure they work within established budgets
- Review design development to allow construction of works to follow safety working practices and be in accordance with current legislation, Group Policy and Procedures
Requirements:
To be considered for this Design Manager role you must meet the following criteria:
- Knowledge of Civil Engineering Sector.
- Previous employment as a Design Co-ordinator, D&B Coordinator, D&B Manager or Design Manager. Civil Engineers / Structural Design Engineers may also be considered.
- Ideally Previous experience in Highways or Bridges projects.
- Ideally Previous Main Contractor employment. Candidates may also be considered from a Design Engineering / Consultancy looking to transfer expeirnece over.
- High level of communication skills.
- Relevant industry qualification (Degree / HND / HNC etc).
Location:
Remote Working / East Anglia / Cambridgeshire / Norfolk
Flexible on candidate’s location as long as when they get to site there is presence a couple of days a week. So, role can be considered on a site visit / remote working split basis.
