BID MANAGER / PROPOSALS MANAGER – NORTH WEST - BUILDING / CONSTRUCTION


COMPANY:

Opportunity to join one of the UK’s busiest Tier 1 building main contractors.

This company are a very stable employer to join, working on several long term stable public sector frameworks, bidding for projects including Schools, Hospitals, MOD and MOJ.

 

ROLE:

To lead and be actively involved in the bidding of construction (non-civil engineering) projects ranging in value from £5m - £70m using a variety of procurement routes including traditional, single stage D&B, two stage D&B, framework, negotiated and competitive dialogue.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Undertake the bid lead role on up to three bids at any one time (This will be dependent on the complexity of each tender with them likely to be staggered).
  • Overseeing the completion of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs)
  • Developing, reviewing and driving the PQQ/bid programme to make sure that all deadlines are met by the bid team
  • Carrying out pre-bid market intelligence gathering
  • Implementing and chairing bid launch meetings to develop a clear win theme
  • Working with the bid team to identify and implement technically driven win themes
  • Analysing scoring matrices and facilitating answer planning workshops to ensure responses meet all criteria
  • Producing technical responses in their own right and editing responses produced by other members of the team to deliver a cohesive overall submission
  • Ensuring win themes are articulated throughout the team and incorporated into the pricing, written submission and interview
  • Producing and presenting bid proposals at internal tender settlements 
  • Acting as the company representative at client engagements and interviews
  • Coaching project teams to deliver high quality post tender interview presentations
  • Managing the handover of bid information to the delivery team for all successful tenders  

Whilst the successful applicant will not be expected to carry out estimating, design management or planning duties in their own right they should have the skill set to provide strategic input into these key tender activities.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

To be considered for this Bid Manager vacancy you will likely have the following attributes:

- Previous employment as a Bid Writer, Bid Manager, Proposals Manager, Proposals Engineer, Submissions Manager, Tender Writer, Bid Author or Bid Coordinator.
- Ideally Previous Main Contractor employment, alternatively candidates with previous employer with Subcontractors and Consultancies will also be considered.

-Good understanding and knowledge of bid management 

-Well developed commercial and presentation skills.

-Excellent communication skills, organisational skills and to be a team player.

- Not essential but the ideal candidate will have a construction related HND, degree (or equivalent) with excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

- They will also need to have a good commercial acumen with the ability to identify and then deliver bid winning strategies that result in profitable contracts. They will have a track record of successfully bid managing tenders across a variety of construction sectors including health, education (schools, FE and HE), accommodation (apartments, student and care homes), retail, commercial and leisure.

The successful Bid Manager will receive:

*Competitive Basic (Dependent on experience)
