Head of Sustainability - Construction / Building 

Exciting opportunity to play a key and strategic role in leading this companies Sustainability department.

Ideal opportunity for an already experienced Head of Sustainability or a Sustainability Manager seeking promotion to play a more leadership / strategic role.

Opportunity to be based from any of the companies network of offices in the Midlands, North West, Yorkshire or North East.

ROLE:

This role will form part of the companies group services and will report to the Group SHE Director to develop and implement environmental policy and procedure, including carbon reduction plans to support the businesses overall ESG credentials.

You will be the companies champion of excellence and innovation in building energy management, carbon reduction, biodiversity and other aspects of sustainability in the construction industry. This is a strategic role that requires an in depth understanding of wider sustainability and ESG issues, combined with the ability to influence a wide variety of stakeholders. You will update and implement the environmental sustainability policy and provide regular communication and reporting both inside and outside the business on agreed aspects of sustainability.

This role will have a broad understanding of sustainability in line with current and future build environment trends that wants to inspire, challenge, guide and help deliver sector-leading sustainability targets to provide the company with a competitive advantage and build the overall profile of the business as a leader in ESG within the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

· Develop, implement and monitoring organisational sustainability strategies.

· Develop sustainability requirements for corporate and service providers’ contract.

· Evaluate proposals with regards to sustainability functions with service providers where required.

· Ensure compliance and statutory regulations on sustainability are adhered to across corporate and departmental operations.

· Research opportunities, and competitive strategies associated with building energy management, environmental sustainability, carbon reduction and ESG.

· Establish and lead the company Sustainability Strategy.

· Monitor sustainability performance against Company targets and leading practice and drive continuous improvement across the business through support and guidance.

· Provide timely expert advice to the business including the Audit, Risk Management and Sustainability Committee, the Board and the Executive on sustainability matters, including on leading practice, emerging issues and benchmarking.

· Support the design, development and implementation of sustainability metrics, goals, business plans and reporting tools and work with key stakeholders to embed them in our business.

· Identify and develop distinctive strategies which will provide the business with a competitive advantage.

REQUIREMENTS: 

To be considered for this Sustainability Manager role you must meet the following criteria:

- Previous employment as a Head of Sustainability, Sustainability Manager or similar to be considered.  
- Ideally Previous Main Contractor employment but not essential. 
- High level of communication skills.
