Senior / Bid Writer -  Infrastructure / Civils  (Highways / Water / Aviation) 

Derbyshire / Remote Working Split

A reputable regional top tier Civil Engineering main contractor, with a longstanding history and a strong brand in the industry.

This employer is expanding its successful Derbyshire based proposals team, to continue their strong track record in work winning for opportunities across the country. This office is Infrastructure’s hub, where the majority of the wider work winning team is based (circa 50 staff). They will be looking to adopt a blend of home based and office based working after Covid 19.

They have a well-balanced proposals team of technical and non-technical writers who work closely together in a friendly, supportive and performance driven environment.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently, or as part of a bid team, to develop written tender submissions for projects and framework submissions in the highways, water, environment and aviation sectors.

The successful candidate must be able to write clear, high quality, accurate and well-structured responses, review and understand client objectives and work effectively with the companies team of Estimators, Planners, Bid Managers and operational support.

The role offers progression opportunities, including line management and support with professional development and other relevant qualifications.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand client tender documentation to develop and provide tender briefings.

  • Lead storyboarding sessions and identify USPs and CVPs.

  • Independently produce high quality and well-structured client focused submissions for PQQs and tenders (projects and frameworks).

  • Independently develop methodologies, risk controls and value engineering, working with technical support when required.

  • Write Case Studies and Project Reports.

  • Proof read and edit the work of others.

  • Research and collate information for use as evidence.

  • Attend and actively contribute to tender meetings, taking a leading role where appropriate.

  • Attend client meetings / interviews and lead where appropriate.

  • Oversee submission of tenders from receipt to upload.

  • Independent analysis and assessment of client feedback.

  • Update and develop company knowledge management database.

Requirements: 

To be considered for this Bid Writer vacancy you will likely have the following attributes:

- You Strive for High Quality and take pride in your work.
- Previous employment as a Bid Writer, Bid Manager, Proposals Manager, Proposals Engineer, Submissions Manager, Tender Writer, Bid Author or Bid Coordinator.
- Ideally Previous Main Contractor employment, alternatively candidates with previous employer with Subcontractors and Consultancies will also be considered.

- Ideally previously work on Civils / Infrastructure sector projects.

- Preferably degree qualified in a subject with a high focus on creating high quality written work

 -Writing, editing and proof reading submissions, including working on major tenders and framework submissions

-Working on multiple concurrent tenders and managing own workload to ensure deadlines are achieved

-Actively participating in and leading tender meetings

- Exceptional writing, editing, and copy-writing skills

- Excellent English language (vocabulary), grammar and communication skills

- Adaptable to deal with changing project requirements and deadlines

- Familiarity with Microsoft and other desktop publishing software packages

- A naturally inquisitive nature to challenge ideas and provide new innovative solutions


Location:

Opportunity to work out of the Derbyshire office / split with remote (home) working.


Remuneration:

The successful Bid Writer will receive:

*£40,000 - £55,000 Basic (Dependent on experience)
*Car or Car Allowance
