Junior Game Designer / Level Designer – Computer / Video Games  - West Midlands

Fantastic opportunity for a Junior Game Designer to join a growing AAA Gaming Developer.

Role:

Help design and develop high quality level assemblies and gameplay systems for AAA titles. You will be part of a core design team working across projects to create interesting, fun, and engaging player experiences.

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with your design Lead to develop fully realised and working level environments for use in large-scale game worlds.
  • Help maintain blueprint game logic for scripted game events and supporting game play systems.
  • Learn and work within the specifications of the project and technology, keeping finished levels within performance thresholds as well as working through potential problems that may cause undesirable gameplay issues/performance problems.
  • Build fully playable levels from a whitebox stage then iterate up to a high standard of quality.

REQUIREMENTS: 

To be considered for this Junior Game Designer / Level Designer role you must meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of Unreal Engines tools and level creation pipelines.
  • Willing to learn proprietary level design tool sets quickly and effectively.
  • A basic understanding of Unreal Engine content structure and asset pipelines.
  • Firm knowledge of Blueprint logic and Gameplay logic assembly.
  • Ability to compile ideas in a concise and presentable format.
  • Solid understanding of basic level design principles for single and multiplayer games. (Desireable)
  • Practical problem solving applicable to the player experience.(Desireable)
  • Able to prototype effectively to demonstrate ideas. (Desireable) 
  • Good understanding of blocking out geometry to size specifications in a 3D package (preferably Maya). (Desireable)
